Our story
Twenty coffees a day to keep the lights on
Aissa and JC Querol are passionate Filipino home cooks who started A’s as a popular market stall. When they opened the little shop on Windsor Street, they worked out they’d need to sell 20 coffees a day just to keep the lights on. The Press covered what happened next: they’re now selling about 70.
The menu mixes Kiwi cafe classics with the food they grew up on. Cheese rolls next to chicken sisig, custard slices next to ube tart, and every coffee pulled on hand crafted, fair trade ROAR espresso roasted here in Southland.

The signature ube custard tart, with the A’s stamp baked in.
